Bow Parade Quilt Pattern - The Scrappy Version
Share
There’s something extra special about a scrappy quilt; the mix of colours, the playful combinations, and the way every fabric tells its own little story.
This version of the Bow Parade quilt pattern is all about embracing that joy.

While the original Bow Parade quilt uses a more cohesive colour palette, this scrappy version brings a completely different feel. Each bow becomes its own moment, each fabric adding personality and together, they create a quilt that feels vibrant, full of life, and rich with colour.

A Great Way to Use Your Fabric Stash
This scrappy Bow Parade quilt is perfect for using:
- Fabric scraps left over from your favourite projects or
- Fat eighths
Instead of letting those beautiful fabrics sit unused, this pattern gives them a chance to shine. Each bow can be made in a different fabric, making every block unique, while the background fabric brings everything together into a cohesive quilt.

About the Bow Parade Quilt Pattern
The Bow Parade quilt pattern finishes at 62" x 70", making it the perfect throw-size quilt for a bed or for snuggling on the couch. This design features three interchangeable bow blocks, allowing you to mix and match your favourites or choose one bow style to repeat throughout the quilt.
It’s a fun and satisfying project that puts your skills to use, including:
- Flying Geese
- Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs)
- Stitch-and-flip techniques
And once all your pieces are cut, the quilt top comes together surprisingly quickly.

Finishing Details
For the quilting, I chose a free-motion meandering design. I love how it adds texture without taking away from the bows, allowing each fabric, in all its colourful glory, to really shine.
I finished it off with big stitch hand binding, which has quickly become one of my favourite ways to add that final handmade touch.
I used Aurifil 50wt thread throughout — from piecing, to quilting, and finally binding, to help bring the whole quilt together.
