Bow Parade Quilt: A Two-Colour Version with a Twist

There’s something about a bow that feels instantly joyful. I designed Bow Parade as a simple, modern quilt with a little bit of sweetness, and this latest version might just be one of my favourites. I made this quilt for the newest little member of our family—my niece’s baby—so it already has a very special place in my heart.

A Little Different from the Original

For this quilt, I decided to make a two-colour version with a twist.

I changed things up slightly from the original two-colour version of Bow Parade. Instead of having one colour for the bow and another for the knot, I divided the two colours across the interchangeable bow blocks, using both colours for the bows and knots to complement each other.

I love how this gives each bow a little more personality while keeping the overall design cohesive.

The bright Pickle and Melon colours against the Charcoal background really make the bows pop, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

The Quilting

I kept the quilting fairly simple with a 1½ inch grid design. This was definitely a test of patience, marking all the lines before I could even start quilting!

I love how the quilting complements the bows without competing with them. The subtle texture adds another layer of detail while allowing the bold bow shapes to remain the star of the quilt.

And I have to say, I’m particularly happy with how the quilting turned out on this one.

About the Bow Parade Quilt Pattern

Bow Parade is a modern quilt pattern featuring three interchangeable bow blocks, finishing at 62" x 70".

The blocks can be mixed and matched, or you can choose one bow style to repeat throughout the quilt, making it easy to put your own spin on the design.

The pattern combines Flying Geese, Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs), and Stitch-and-Flip piecing techniques to create the bows.

It’s a fun project if you love modern quilt designs, bold shapes and quilts that have a playful feel without being overly fussy.
